for the children of newtown, connecticut. with one exception, the students of sandy hook elementary. kenneth is a fourth grader at sandy hook. he was there that tragic day. >> he heard screaming and gunshots and the room he was in was being banged on by the gunman. >> reporter: kenneth and his classmates won't be returning to sandy hook elementary school. when they do go back, they will attend chalk hill school in nearby monroe. >> they said he won't go back unless there's a police officer at every door. >> reporter: the grieving continues here in newtown. there will be two more funerals today when james mattioli and jessica rekos will be laid to rest. the first two funerals were monday when 6-year-old noah pozner and jack pinto were remembered. >> shouldn't be at a 6-year- old's funeral. it's a devastating event and as heartbreaking as it is, it just keeps getting more heartbreaking. >> reporter: noah pozner was described as smart, caring and rum bunktious. jack pinto loved the new york giants. he was buried in the jersey of his favorite player, giants wide receiver, victor cruz. >> there w

[ pause ] >> and we're having some issues with that story right now. we are going to try to get that back to you. in the meantime, we do want to tell you that people nationwide, they are honoring the victims of the mass shooting in connecticut. locally, dozens gathered last night for a vigil in gilroy. organizers at south valley community church say it gave people a chance to get together and share their thoughts. >> having an environment a venue like this i think helps people kind of process it and then being able to give resources that kind of help people continue that journey. >> the names of all the newtown victims were read and a candle was lit for each of them. another vigil is planned at 6:00 tonight at amaral park in pleasanton. >>> well, this morning a more detailed picture is emerging of the gunman who killed more than two dozen people. acquaintances of adam lanza was smart but his mother who was also killed told friends he had a mental disability. cbs 5 reporter cate caugiran is in our newsroom with more. >>> reporter: a man who b

they get a chance to talk to two of the staff members who survived the shooting. live in newtown, connecticut, i'm randall pinkston. back to you. >>> randall, have investigators learned anything as to how adam lanza gained access to these high powered ammunition? >> reporter: we know that his mother obtained those weapons legally. they were applied for. she had to fill out a lot of paperwork to get them. we don't know whether she kept locked. we don't know whether he had permission to use them whenever he wanted to. we know she took him with her to shooting ranges several times over the course of the past several years. today we learned from investigators that both adam lanza and his mother had made visits to multiple gun ranges. so obviously, he was familiar with weapons with his mother's permission. whether he had access to those firearms, we can't say at this time. >> randall pinkston in newtown, connecticut, thank you. >>> schools throughout the bay area are reviewing their security procedures, following friday's tragedy in connecticut. ann notarangelo is in antioch where the

lightly in the wake of that shooting in newtown. a threatening phone call prompted an investigation. he sent a recorded message explaining the content of that phone call. >> at 10:00 a.m., the caller stated you are next and hung up. the school uponned by immediate -- responded by immediately calling the police department and closing down the schools. all teachers did a great job and made sure everything was okay and police arrived and searched both calm campuses the police superintendent said a full investigation has been launched and they are trying to determine where that phone call came from. when parents came they came to check on their kids and any parent who has been fingerprinted and can volunteer to be part of patrols and they are encouraging parents to be involved as an extra layer of security. ktvu channel 2 morning news. >>> an 18-year-old is accused of posting online threats. sergio was or priested -- was arrested yesterday and he said he supports what the gunman did and he has access to firearms inside his home. >>> in the meantime, we are getting new information about the

, we are hearing more stories of courage and heroism. gene rosen lives near the school in newtown. friday morning, before anyone knew what had happened, he discovered six terrified children in a school bus driver on the front lawn. it rosen invited them into his home. he describes what happened next. >> when the kids stated that they could not go back because their teacher is dead and bay could not go back. i could not accept that. i just kept listening to them and when they talk more one of them stated that it was a big gun and a small gun. they stated that there was blood, and there was blood. i prayed. >> the teacher was 27 year- old vicotoria soto. she reportedly shielded her students in the corner of the room to get away from the gunfire. the kids and somehow got away and were able to get to rosen's home. rosen gave them some jews and some of his grandson's toys to comfort them, then he called their parents. >> we have clear skies outside and it is along the temperatures to drop. it is a cooler start today and even colder tomorrow. weaken see fault developing. we are not gett
